What are the people on earth most dependent on? and why is that? Ask yourself that question. We all know that the answer is natural resources in the form of oil and gas. And to the question of why, well, thats easy, we all need energy. The definitive fact is that these resources will be depleted one day. What are we going to do then. I want you to name a viable source of energy and how to extract it. I am going to contribute to the discussion by naming the number one, unexploited and best energy source of all. The sun. The sun produces such vast amount of energy that we cant really understand it. If we were to harness just the slightest of its output we could end much of the worlds current deprevasion. The sun provides us with light. Light in a concentrated area = heat. Heat = POWER! In these trying times, the cost of an solar power plant should not be a big obstacle if some of the worlds countries would get together and construct one. There are already solar power plants running in the form of test plants and small scale plants so the design is already clear. Think of the total area that the sahara desert make up. Take a fraction of that and put mirrors on that area that focus the suns rays on a singel point. This point of extreme temperature could drive a steamturbine that generates electricity. This is the scale that i am thinking in. Put a couple of these stations in every desert on the planet and we would have alot of power at our hands!

You mean something like this? http://www.eia.doe.gov/cneaf/solar.renewables/page/solarreport/highlights2.html

There are several resources we are depentent on ...especially in 2019 it is water, food and enegery. Energy could be produced in several ways and manpower is one of it. Therefore the technology of bicycle will be devoloped for energy producing and for transport. Oil is needed for new material in the nano-sector.

People are most dependent on food and potable water. With the environment in the state it is in, at least water means there neeeds to be a source of energy to process it before drinking. Food often means transportation, even if food production has been decentralized in the last decade. Personal transportation around here often is by bike. Lass prone to griefing disruptions than public transport, and sufficient for small scale transport of food from our subsistency collective.

Sorry Alexander, as early as 2008, there were a number of companies doing the solar power thing. www.ausra.com is one of them.

Let's see if I can remember my Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs here: People are most dependent on 1. physiological (away from predators, food water, shelter, procreation, etc) 2. Security (self, property, etc) 3. Love/Belonging (family, friends) 4. Esteem (confidence, respect) and 5. Self-Actualization (kinda like what we're all doing here in this realm). Depending on where an individual feels he or she is in this line up may well determine what it is that they will be dependent on next.
