The ideas suggested by the founding members of the Extended Family Superstruct are big and need a container to expand; hence this discussion forum.

This post refers to something but has no link to the reference. :( The concept of "Family" has been badly abused by modern day social engineers. The traditional family of blood relatives has suffered greatly from the manipulation of the social engineers who insist that external group affiliation (Employer, Faith, political) comes first. Why should an organization of unrelated people reorganize itself into an extended family?

You pose a good quesiton, PX. I suppose my instinctual answer is that by effecting that reorganization, the unrelated people *become* related, and therefore able to harness the motivating power of personal relationships. Acting locally is sometimes so much easier than thinking globally because we can't ignore what we already care about. Giving us easy ways to spread that care around makes local action distributable to a global context. I love it--sign me up!

Yes research shows that people who consider themselves to be related are more altruistic towards each other than if they do not have this perception. It does not have to be a DNA thing.
