What are we going to do if we reach the crisis?

What if we reach the crisis. What time do we have to do something? We could panic, or we could do something about it. Which is it?

Why wait? We have to start doing something now!

By the time time we\\\'ve reached the crisis, it\\\'s too late. Luckily, we\\\'ve got 23 years to work on it. But if we don\\\'t manage to prevent it? Probably die. Most likely starve to death, second most likely murdered.

If we reach the crisis, the best thing we could do is just try to survive with the people around us, the people we trust, and try as best as we can to build a new civilization.

Its important to preserve your immediate community and once that is taken care of branch out. More communities will give more resources and its our duty to help those who need it when we can.

We all must work as a community for the greater good, even if it is \\\"too late\\\" we must try for mankind, otherwise what good would we be as humans, if we do not try? If we reach a crisis, we will work together as a global community to fix the crisis until the last man stands. At least we will know we\\\'ve tried when we die, and it would give our lives meaning.

By the time we\\\'ve reached this crisis well not be very exited by it anymore. The truth is that Wars and other crises are quite boring really. You sit around for a long time in some cold and dirty place and when you go for a pee, you get shot by a sniper. We can\\\'t rely on drama to keep up our interest, so real sustainability is not a passing commitment, it stays. I suggest we work with those we are close to, for local solutions and join these initiatives together in larger communities.

I think we\\\'ve already reached the crisis - I\\\'m no scientist, but I\\\'m reasonably sure it\\\'s a fact that what we\\\'re doing now has effects way beyond the immediate (and those are already pretty bad). There has to be a complete paradigm shift -now- if the human race is going to survive, and I think that the first thing we have to address is that we are living beyond our means at the moment. I have a particular problem with fossil fuels and deforestation, problems which could easily be drastically reduced by eliminating journeys that could be completed as easily by walking or cycling or, in the case of deforestation (and I\\\'m speaking purely from my own experience here, I realise there are other \\\"benefits\\\" that come from deforestation\\\") if people would just not use beauty products. My last thought for now is that we should stop treating the planet like our own personal stomping ground. We\\\'re not the only species here, but we are the only ones doing the damage. We need to learn to properly co-exist with the rest of the planet\\\'s inhabitants.

I agree completely with tsunamipants. Survival is more engaging than quitting. Most of us are interested in staying active. One way or another. Hopefully in ways that are better than worse.

You will shine or you will not. Check out Future Heroes Superstruct and the whole thesis that there is a very small percentage of people who emerge as heroes buy most every one has a s/hero in them if the moment arises. The BIG question though is how do we summon that brilliance now (not need crisis as a catalyst)

we need to build awareness that poverty has to be addressed on a large scale. All of our problems have the same root. We are in a closed system and the condition of one person will always affect all the others in myriad ways.

I think that the solution is in creating systems which encourage heroism. Asking members of our society to do it, in this day and age of scarce resources, is too much.

It shouldn't happen. If we all work together then we should be able to stop the crisis before 2042.

I agree with Mr. Mason. We as a species must tighten our collective belts if we are going to avoid the crisis. I don't believe it's too late by any stretch of the imagination.

Doing nothing is not a real answer to a problem. Assuming the internet is still mostly functional we could organize a new structure rather quickly, with the help of "tuned-in" volunteers.
